The Unwanted
by Ronald E. Hall
(written in February 1970)

Ann and Ron HallBeing in hospital for a number of years, you hear about cases of divorces and desertion among patients. This I feel is very unnecessary. So let us examine these two cases individually, and I will give you my opinion on them.

We will start with the divorce case first. Maybe I am old fashioned but I believe in what is read at the marriage ceremony which says (in part) do you promise to love, honour, and obey, through sickness and in health ‘till death do you part? Yes, I have heard a younger patient say "Oh, well, I am no use any more, it is better this way." I cannot agree with this. Just because a person is disabled and may be in hospital do you not think that it would be nice for either her or him to know that they still belonged to somebody and were still loved? I do.

As for the case of the deserted, when the family or friends puts a person in a hospital or home and then simply forgets about them. Well all I can say is, I do not think much of the relations..

So people on the outside world, if there is someone in a hospital or home that you know, try and find time to go and visit them and even if you do not know any shut-ins, and if you have the time, go into a hospital, walk through the wards and talk to the patients who may not have any family or friends.

They will bless you for it and in turn you may receive a blessing.

(Ron and Ann Hall were an example to us of faithful love for God and for each other. Both are now with Jesus)

A New Ministry
collecting glasses, hearing aids, wheelchairs, etc.

We are Sarah Brown and Lezlee Bachand from Joy Fellowship – a Christian ministry for people with mental and physical disabilities. In October 2003, we travelled on a mission trip with three other people to New Zealand and met a woman with cerebral palsy who had started a ministry collecting old eye glasses and hearing aids and she had sent them to Third World countries.

We want to start a similar ministry, so we need your support by donating any eye glasses or hearing aids so we can send them to the needy people in Third World countries (via Christian ministries in those countries).

Please send them to either:

or

God bless and thank you for your kind attention,

Sarah Brown and Lezlee Bachand—(604) 787-2925

Through Joy Fellowship we also have connections so that wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility aids can be refurbished and sent to people who really need them. So please let us know.

Joyfully His,
Joy Gregory

Did You Know?

Lori and Brian Bell

Lori and Brian Bell were recently in Vancouver on holiday and had lunch with Joy Gregory. Lori and Brian helped with Joy Fellowship in the early 1980’s and were instrumental in involving Joy in full-time ministry with "Joy."

They have recently moved to Toronto from Pentanguishine, ON. Lori is teaching Kindergarten and Brian is pastoring a church called the Meeting House: a church rooted in home groups, meeting Sundays in Silvercity theater buildings. Their daughter Jessica has just started university.
