Did You Know?

Because of the generous donations given to us in memory of Ethel Hilderman, we have been able to purchase a laptop (soon to be two—one each for Dave and Joy) and a projector. We have been learning how to use the system and now have our songs and scriptures displayed on the wall using PowerPoint. This enables everyone to be able to read it in big print.

Using this plus our sound system (donated by ECBC church in Vancouver) has enabled us to make our services more friendly for those with sight and hearing disabilities. We are grateful and are having fun with the new possibilities this technology brings.

Once again we had our summer tent camp at Porpoise Bay Provincial Park in Sechelt. We were joined by the Sunshine Coast Joy Fellowship who hosted a BBQ and games day. Dave and Sue Devitt, assisted by all, organized and hosted a wonderful day for us all.

Here you see eight tents and our fire circle. We are having our morning devotions, singing to the Lord in the midst of His marvelous creation. We hope we can go back again next year.

Sonya and Lori Ann making a pillow together at summer camp. Evelyn Woods sewed more than a dozen pillows for us out of some very fun patterns of material (bowling, cats, dogs, butterflies etc.) She left an opening just big enough for our folks to stuff and hand sew the opening closed. For many this was their first experience sewing and we had some very proud crafters. Other summer projects involved painting, making birdhouses, making flags and making bookmarks for our missionaries.

[picture to come] We have been having Craft Making Mornings with our friends in the three Bethesda homes in Richmond. Every month or so we get together around at least one large table to work on a project: We've made frames, decorated birdhouses, painted fish and frogs for the garden and have made Christmas presents and ornaments. The Bethesda staff and residents are very enthusiastic about the projects and we have lots of fun and laughter.
